About Vanessa

Have what you want, get what works for you and your family.

Vanessa Davisson has been cooking for families since 1991.

As a nanny in Marin, she taught herself to cook from the cookbooks in the house.  When she left the nanny position (to try being a secretary at San Quentin Prison, which lasted 2 years) the family called her a few months later saying "We're eating Quesadillas every night, can you come make a few meals each week for us?" and in 1994 her weekly service and Girlfriend's Kitchen was born.

In 1995 Vanessa took an Assistant Director position at Homechef Cooking School. As the assistant to all of the Guest Teachers when the Corte Madera store opened, she experienced a variety of foods from Indian to Chinese Foods That Heal to Pastries.

She taught Mexican Dining and Tamale Making Workshops with her Grandmother at Homechef and Piedmont Adult School.

Ever learning, she goes online, thru Cooking Light magazines and cookbooks to expand her menu.

Vanessa and her friends have been catering for 11 years and they enjoy it very much.

Since 2003 they have been booked for the first two weekends in December for holiday parties.  Some clients book December parties in September!

In January 2007 the original Girlfriend's Kitchen name was purchased by the "My Girlfriend's Kitchen" franchise and ChefVanessa.com was created.

As a nanny and a mother she has learned how difficult it is to manage a home, take care of children, work and have time to cook.

"I wanted to help the folks feed themselves and their families healthy, delicious, nutritious food they can feel good about.  It is all too easy and familiar to eat what is convenient, frozen or fast, and that is not always that great for us."

Vanessa knows how challenging it is to feed children vegetables and tries to camouflage them into dishes for consumption and approval.

All menu items can be customized to suit your needs, so if someone in your home will really only eat Broccoli, Green Beans, Corn or Potatoes, we want you to have what will help the most. Of course, we encourage you to expand your palette but our biggest concern is that you get what you and your family will eat.

Vanessa and her husband have 2 sons.

We look forward to speaking with you soon.  vanessa@chefvanessa.com
